Cidade Ademar owes its name to Ademar de Barros. His son-in-law owned land here. In 1946, it was named a district in his honor.

Until 1996, Cidade Ademar was part of Santo Amaro. It was seen as a peripheral area. In 1997, the Subprefeitura-CD was created. In December 2000, the municipality redrew the geographical divisions. Cidade Ademar got its current shape. It spans 12 square kilometers.
Today, Cidade Ademar is a vibrant district. It has a Poupatempo unit. This is a service center for citizens. A major intermunicipal bus corridor connects the area to ABC Paulista. It links the Marginal Pinheiros region to other cities.
