A behemoth of glass and steel. That’s the Florido Tower. Standing before you is the 13th tallest building in Austria. It wasn’t always this imposing.
The Florido Tower or as it is now known Peak Vienna has a fascinating history. Built between 1999 and 2001 the tower rose to a height of 113 meters. Thirty-one floors house offices. Nine elevators whisk people to the top. The architect Andreas Muller-Hartburg designed this impressive structure. The building’s impressive size isn’t just about height. Its usable area is around 36000 square meters. That’s a lot of office space.
Initially named the Florido Tower it had a transformation. In November 2020 it received a new name Peak Vienna. This signified more than just a name change. The building underwent a renovation. A new office concept emerged. Open spaces appeared. Natural materials such as wood were incorporated. Greenery enhanced the interior. The corridors changed. Their material and design underwent a complete change. Reflections and light now play a significant role. Dark-hued natural components and wooden features create a linear feel.
The Florido Tower wasn’t just built for work. The 30th floor boasts the Florido Lounge. This space is available for rent. Conferences and events for up to 240 people can be held here. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of Vienna. Imagine holding a successful business meeting or a lavish party with such a majestic backdrop.
The tower’s energy efficiency is noteworthy. It features an energy-saving double-skin climate facade. Opening windows allow for natural ventilation. Chilled beams provide cooling. This design is both efficient and environmentally friendly. At the end of 2006 the Florido Tower was sold. The German company DIFA Deutsche Immobilien Fonds AG purchased it for 110 million euros. Today it operates under the name Union Investment Real Estate AG.
