Considering a place to let off steam? New Town Plaza is the vibrant heart of Sha Tin. It is one of Hong Kong’s largest shopping malls. This plaza isn’t just a mall. It’s an experience.

New Town Plaza opened on January 30, 1985. Sun Hung Kai Properties developed it. Back then, it was the biggest shopping center in the New Territories. New Town Plaza covers a vast area of 200,000 square meters. That’s about 49.4 acres.

Inside New Town Plaza, you will find over 400 stores and services. There are more than 350 international labels and boutiques. Shoppers can explore over 100 fashion and 160 beauty brands. The latest electronics and health care supplements are also available. Food lovers rejoice. Over 50 restaurants offer diverse culinary delights. Supermarkets like Yata, city’super, and Marks & Spencer provide groceries.

Kids will have a blast at New Town Plaza. Dinosaur fans can explore Hong Kong’s first dinosaur-themed outdoor playground. Join Charlie Brown and his friends at Asia’s first Snoopy’s World. The Play Park at UB and LB offers a retail-tainment tour. Kiztopia indoor playground covers over 12,000 square feet. It features different play zones for children aged 0 to 12. It combines fun, learning, dining, and family entertainment.

The New Town Plaza is conveniently located at the MTR Sha Tin Station. This makes it a great pit stop for travelers. They can easily access it from the MTR East Rail Line.

New Town Plaza has undergone renovations over the years. Phase 1 was renovated from 2003 to 2008. Phase 3 was renovated from 2017 to 2019. These updates ensure a modern and enjoyable shopping experience.

Originally, Level 3 featured an oval musical fountain. It was the largest in Asia. It was demolished in 2004 and rebuilt on the roof garden of Level 7 in 2005. Sadly, it closed in 2015.

New Town Plaza is more than just a shopping destination. It is a dynamic space for everyone. With its wide array of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options.
