Selam-Moschee. A beacon of faith nestled in Vienna’s 22nd district, on Donaufelder Straße 229. The Selam-Moschee serves as a spiritual home for the local Sunni Muslim community. It’s more than just a place of worship. The Selam-Moschee stands as a testament to the rich cultural tapestry of Vienna. The mosque is part of the Islamische Föderation Selam, a multicultural association for migrants in Donaustadt. This association, founded in July 2009, also operates a food retail store and a coffee house at the same address, further enriching the community. The Selam-Moschee isn’t just a standalone entity. It’s connected to the larger Kultusgemeinde der Islamischen Föderation Wien, located in Rauchfangkehrergasse 36/10 in the 15th district. Regular Friday prayers echo within the mosque’s walls, uniting the community in prayer and reflection. The Selam-Moschee also falls under the umbrella of the Islamische Föderation (IF), the Austrian branch of the Turkish Milli Görüş movement. This organization operates 47 mosque facilities and various other associations focusing on youth and women’s initiatives across Austria. Founded in 1987, the IF primarily aims to meet the religious and social needs of Turkish-Muslim guest workers.
