Question: What makes a restaurant truly unforgettable? Aloë might just hold the answer.
Aloë is nestled here at Svartlösavägen 52. It is in the Långbro district of southern Stockholm. This isn’t just any restaurant. Aloë offers a unique dining experience.
Aloë opened its doors in 2015. Daniel Höglander and Niclas Jönsson were the visionaries behind it. They transformed an old retail building into a culinary gem. Jönsson brought experience from Lux and Bon Lloc. Höglander’s background included Esperanto, Vassa Eggen, and Operakällaren.
The name Aloë means unknown origin in Latin. Höglander said the name was chosen to avoid pigeonholing the restaurant’s cuisine. It was a deliberate move away from the New Nordic trend. That trend emphasizes seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.
Aloë seats only 35 guests. It ensures an intimate and luxurious experience. The restaurant offers tasting menus that are truly special. In 2017, they expanded with Rinos bodega. It is a more casual sister restaurant in the same building.
Aloë earned its first Michelin star in 2018. By 2020, it had achieved two stars. This recognition speaks volumes about its culinary excellence.

The reviewer found the location charming. It felt like dining in someone’s home. The open kitchen and intimate setting add to the experience.
Aloë distinguishes itself through its cuisine. It draws inspiration from global flavors. It uses the freshest ingredients available. The tasting menu might feature flavors from Russia, the Far East, southern Europe, and Latin America. This creates an interesting and creative culinary journey.
The chefs have impressive backgrounds. They include experience at Michelin-starred restaurants.
A tasting menu at Aloë consists of about 15 servings. Guests can choose a beverage package. Or they can order drinks by the glass or bottle. The reviewer highlighted several favorite dishes. These included caviar royale, langoustine with fermented beans, venison with oriental spices, and squid with green pepper and jalapeño. Desserts are spot on.
