“Ever heard of Zelenkova Street” It is here in Prague 12 that the story of TJ Tempo Praha unfolds. This isn’t just any sports club. TJ Tempo Praha is a baseball and softball institution with roots stretching back to 1963.
Picture this you are standing on Zelenkova 3. This is the home of TJ Tempo Praha. The air is filled with the crack of bats and the cheers of players. You can almost taste the hot dogs from the nearby restaurant. The baseball and softball complex is more than just a field. It is a community hub.
Founded in 1963 TJ Tempo Praha has grown from a small local team to a major force in Czech baseball and softball. The club was initially founded in Prague 4. It is registered as a civic association. The club’s history is rich with accomplishments. TJ Tempo Praha has achieved remarkable success over the years. It won the Czech Baseball Cup in 1994. It also was the Czech Extraliga vice champion in 1994 and 2003.
In its early days the softball and baseball sections were located in Lhotka. They were in the middle of a residential area. The softball field was built on a former Sokol training ground. The clubhouse was in a former school cafeteria. Baseball games were usually played on football fields. Sometimes they even used the Strahov Stadium.
Around 1988 a new complex began to take shape in Zelenkova Street in Prague 12. Gradually the baseball and softball sections moved here. Today the club focuses solely on baseball and softball. Both are members of independent sports associations. TJ Tempo Praha now has about 15 teams. These include youth women’s and men’s teams. In total there are around 250 members.

The TJ Tempo Praha fields have specific dimensions. The left field is 98 meters. Center field extends to 105 meters. Right field measures 100 meters. Public transport is easily accessible. The Pavlíkova bus stop is served by buses 213 and 115. Parking is available for 50 cars.
TJ Tempo Praha continues to thrive. They start with the youngest players around 4 years old in T-ball. Youth teams have age-adjusted rules to ensure the game is fun and safe. The club has been recognized as a youth superclub. Many of its young players have gone on to represent the Czech Republic. TJ Tempo Praha also hosts several annual tournaments. These are for both senior and youth categories.
The club’s influence extends beyond the field. TJ Tempo Praha has been a co-organizer of major European championships. This includes the European Women’s Softball Championship in 2005. They also co-organized the European Junior Baseball Championship in 2013. TJ Tempo Praha also co-organized the European U23 Championship last year in 2019.
