In the heart of Waiblingen, a silent giant stands watch. This is the Wasserturm Waiblingen. It’s more than just a water tower. It is a symbol of the town’s history and ingenuity. The Wasserturm Waiblingen was built in 1926 by Ernst Eberle. He was the town’s master builder. He designed the tower to resemble medieval fortifications. It’s about 30 meters tall and has a diameter of about ten meters. The tower’s design reflects a blend of functionality and aesthetics. The Wasserturm Waiblingen isn’t just a pretty face. It serves a vital purpose. It provides approximately 1 million cubic meters of drinking water annually to Waiblingen’s central zone. This is known as “Versorgungsgebiet 2”. Inside, a large water chamber holds about 340 cubic meters of water. The Wasserturm Waiblingen also generates its own electricity. It uses a turbine powered by the flowing water. In 1983, a new housing development sprang up southeast of the tower. It was called “Beim Wasserturm” which translates to “At the Water Tower”. This further cemented the tower’s place in the community. The Wasserturm Waiblingen is a testament to Waiblingen’s commitment to both its history and its future. It stands tall, a silent guardian providing a vital service while echoing the architectural styles of the past.
