How small can a suburb be? Welcome to Englorie Park. This unassuming corner of Sydney is a hidden gem a testament to the surprising diversity of the city’s landscape. Englorie Park is incredibly small. It’s actually the tiniest suburb in all of New South Wales. Imagine a place so compact you could almost walk its length in a single breath. That’s Englorie Park.

Nestled between Ambarvale Glen Alpine and Campbelltown its location is surprisingly central. It’s just a short hop from the bustling Macarthur Square shopping centre and the vital Campbelltown Hospital. But Englorie Park is far more than its proximity to larger areas. It holds a unique history a story woven into the very fabric of its streets.

Established in 2000 Englorie Park is a relative newcomer to the Sydney landscape. Before its official designation it was simply part of the larger Campbelltown area. Its name though has far deeper roots. It stems from the historic Englorie Park House a grand residence built in 1880 by greyhound breeder Alfred Park. Initially named Parkholme the property later acquired its current name a slightly corrupted version of its original moniker Euglorie Park. That charming old house now serves as a childcare centre a quiet hub in this quiet suburb.

The suburb is mostly residential. You’ll find mostly detached houses here. A few townhouses add to the mix. It’s a place of quiet family life a tranquil retreat in contrast to the energetic pulse of Sydney’s centre. A walk through its streets provides a serene experience.

Englorie Park’s population is remarkably small. In 2021 only 361 people called this place home. The majority are Australian-born. English is the primary language spoken. Catholicism is the dominant religion. Despite its modest size Englorie Park offers a unique insight into Sydney’s quiet residential life. This quiet suburb shows that big isn’t always better.

So as you stand here at the edge of Englorie Park remember its story. It’s a story of a tiny suburb with a big past a quiet community brimming with charm. Its history is rich even in its smallness. It’s a testament to the unexpected corners of history you can find tucked away in the heart of the modern city.
