Established in 1965, Loyola served as a beacon of Catholic education for students in Years 11 and 12. The school, steeped in the Ignatian tradition of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, boasted a sprawling eight-hectare campus. Its design even garnered the prestigious Sulman Award from the Royal Australian Institute of Architects. Loyola’s legacy extended beyond its impressive architecture. It nurtured notable alumni like Mile Jedinak, former captain of the Socceroos, and Kylie Gauci, a member of the Australian Gliders wheelchair basketball team. In 2020, Loyola Senior High School closed its doors. However, its story didn’t end there. The campus underwent a transformation, becoming CathWest Innovation College – Loyola Campus. This new institution, built on the foundations of Loyola, embraces a different approach to education. CathWest Innovation College – Loyola Campus provides students in Years 10-12 with groundbreaking entrepreneurial and educational pathways. It encourages them to explore their passions while pursuing the NSW Higher School Certificate. The campus now boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a maker space, machining room, and a STEM lab. A purpose-built technology space houses podcasting and film production equipment, while a student-run cafe and salon offer real-world experience.
