“Catch the Mustang Spirit” That’s Meade Senior High School’s motto. Right here before us stands Meade Senior High a testament to education in Anne Arundel County. Opened in 1977 this school has been a cornerstone of the community. It’s undergone renovations. It proudly boasts its accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools.

Meade Senior High is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a place of diverse learning. Students explore a wide range of subjects. Art Business Education English and more fill the school day. The school even offers International Baccalaureate programs. These programs prepare students for higher education and beyond. This makes Meade one of only three IB schools in the county.

But Meade’s story isn’t solely academic. The school has a rich extracurricular life. Rivalries with Old Mill High School fuel spirited competitions. Meade Mustangs participate in numerous sports. Cheerleading cross country football and many more fill the school calendar. The school has even experienced athletic triumph. Its boys’ track team won a state championship. The basketball team took home a state championship in 2015. The wrestling team achieved its first county championship in 2011-2012. The marching band M4 even reached the Atlantic Coastal Championships.

Meade hasn’t been without its challenges. The school faced a period of negative reputation around 2007. This was followed by a serious brawl in 1994 that injured teachers and students. Despite these difficulties Meade persevered. It remains a vital part of its community.

The school has also been a target of controversy. The Westboro Baptist Church protested the school. This was met with strong opposition from the community. However Meade stands tall. It continues to educate inspire and shape young lives. Its students have gone on to achieve great things. Notable alumni include Haddaway the singer Marina Harrison Miss Maryland USA and Miss America and Connie Isler a pioneering women’s golf coach.
