“Fishponds? More like ‘Wishponds’ because you’ll wish you came here sooner!”

Welcome to Fishponds Lookout. It is a hidden gem within Berowra Valley Regional Park. This isn’t just another scenic spot. It’s an experience etched in nature.

Imagine this. You’re standing on a fenced rock platform. Below lies a valley. You can see a timber foot bridge. The air is fresh and clean. It fills your lungs as you inhale deeply. You feel a sense of calm wash over you.

The journey to Fishponds Lookout is an adventure itself. The moderate track from the Blue Gum Walk intersection is about 300 meters. It will take you around seven minutes to walk. The path soon bends left. You will pass along the top of an unfenced cliff. It winds down some steep carved rock steps. A hand rail is provided for safety. The rocky track leads along the side of the valley. Then it crosses a timber foot bridge.

This isn’t just a simple walk in the park. It is graded 4 out of 6. It means a hard track. But don’t let that deter you. The challenge is part of the allure. The gradient includes short steep hills and gentle hills with steps. Around 350 meters is very steep. However, there is also flat ground to give you a breather. The track is well-formed. Directional signs will guide you along the way.

But what makes Fishponds Lookout truly special? The location. It is near Berowra Creek. As you stand at the lookout, take a moment. Let your gaze follow the creek’s winding path. Listen to the soothing sounds of nature. The gentle rustling of leaves. The soft gurgle of water.

A walk from Hornsby Train Station to Fishponds Lookout is about 2.15 km. It should take around 41 minutes. Follow Quarry Road down the hill. Turn onto the Great North Walk. Pass through Berowra Valley Bushland Park. Continue onto the Blue Gum Walk. Then follow the signs to Fishponds.

As you stand at Fishponds Lookout, think about this. You’re not just looking at a view. You’re experiencing a journey. A journey through nature. A journey of discovery. A journey to a place where tranquility meets adventure.

So, take a deep breath. Soak it all in. Fishponds Lookout is not just a destination. It is a moment in time. A memory to cherish. A story to tell. A view to remember.
