Deep within the rugged terrain of Chung Hom Kok, a curious sight awaits. Snoopy Rock, a natural rock formation, stands as a testament to the power of imagination. Snoopy Rock truly resembles the beloved cartoon beagle. It’s not just a rock; it’s a whimsical character brought to life by the forces of nature.

Snoopy Rock isn’t merely a static landmark. It’s a key part of a thrilling hike. This hike takes you through the untamed beauty of Chung Hom Kok peninsula. The peninsula boasts a variety of rock formations. Two of the most famous formations are Devil’s Claw and, of course, Snoopy Rock.

The trail to Snoopy Rock is not for the faint of heart. It’s an adventurous path filled with bushwhacking and scrambling. You’ll find yourself ducking under trees and following ribbon markers to navigate the unmarked trails. The journey is about 3.87km long and takes roughly three hours to complete, including time for photos and rest stops. The difficulty level is considered intermediate. Be prepared for some steep climbs and overgrown vegetation.

The hike begins at the Chung Hom Kok Road Beach bus stop. From there, you’ll walk along Chung Hom Kok Road until you reach a vehicle passing place. This marks the starting point of your climb towards Devil’s Claw. After exploring Devil’s Claw, continue your trek towards the top of the peninsula. This section presents the most challenging climbs, requiring you to navigate steep slopes and thick vegetation. Long pants, arm sleeves, and gloves are highly recommended to protect yourself from sharp rocks and overgrowth.

As you reach the peninsula’s summit, you’ll encounter a cluster of large rock formations. Continue past these, maneuvering through bushes and thickets. Eventually, Snoopy Rock will come into view. It stands several meters high, proudly displaying its distinctive canine profile. Some adventurous hikers attempt to climb Snoopy Rock, but caution is advised due to the steep and risky nature of the climb.

The hike continues past Snoopy Rock, eventually descending towards the Chung Hom Kok Battery. Along the way, you’ll pass the trigonometric station of Chung Hom Kok Shan. The trail then leads to an observation post near Cheshire Home, followed by a steep but manageable descent towards a long flight of steps. These steps bring you back to the road at Cheshire Home, from where you can return to the roundabout at Chung Hom Kok Road, marking the end of your adventure.

Snoopy Rock is more than just a rock; it’s a whimsical landmark waiting to be discovered. Its unique form sparks the imagination. The challenging journey to reach it adds an element of adventure. The breathtaking views from Chung Hom Kok peninsula offer a rewarding experience. Snoopy Rock awaits, ready to charm and delight.
