Perhaps you have heard of Ivar Kreuger? He was a famous Swedish financier. Today we are standing in front of Stor-Ängsholmen. This island was once owned by Ivar Kreuger in the 1920s.
Stor-Ängsholmen is located in Värmdö municipality. It lies in the Stockholm archipelago. Stor-Ängsholmen is northeast of Vindö. It is near Klövholmen.
During Kreuger’s time, Stor-Ängsholmen featured a long house. This house had two chimneys and three dormers. It also included an added corner section.
The main building on Stor-Ängsholmen was designed by Edvard Bernhard. Paul Toll’s construction firm likely built it. The property also included a large garden. A hired gardener maintained this garden. There was also a large harbor with docks. The harbor had a boathouse. It could hold about 20 boats. Kreuger moored his motorboats here. Kreuger and his partner Ingeborg Eberth often spent their summers on Stor-Ängsholmen. Ingeborg called it “The Island of Bliss”. Film stars Greta Garbo, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks visited Stor-Ängsholmen in June 1924. They were in Stockholm for a celebrity visit. SF arranged the visit. Kreuger provided a tour of the Stockholm archipelago on his boat Loris. SF captured part of this visit in a 6-minute film sequence. The film shows a boat trip. First, they visited Charles Magnusson’s summer home on Skarpö. At the end of the film, Stor-Ängsholmen is shown.
