Aldie United Methodist Church

In 1857, Aldie United Methodist Church’s story began not in its current location, but in a shared brick building. This building housed Methodists, Presbyterians, and Episcopalians. It stood where the Aldie Presbyterian Church now stands. Aldie United Methodist Church, as we know it, emerged from this shared space. By 1882, the Methodists, thanks to a land donation from Mary B. Green, had their own building. This land became the site of the present Aldie United Methodist Church, located at 39325 Little River Turnpike, which recently changed from John Mosby Highway. Today, this church, a part of the Shenandoah River District of the Virginia Conference, serves a congregation of around 40 members. The church continues its mission within the community, ministering to its members and echoing the spirit of its founders. Records suggest the church has undergone various renovations and improvements. A new furnace was installed, an educational building added, and the chancel area was remodeled. New pews offer comfort to the present-day congregation. The church holds within its walls echoes of sermons, hymns, and community gatherings. The spirit of shared worship from its early days, though now in a dedicated space, continues. Aldie United Methodist Church stands as a testament to the enduring faith of its community.
