Let’s delve into the story of Parafia Matki Bożej Królowej Aniołów. Its origins trace back to two prominent figures in the Warsaw Church. Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński recognized the need for a new pastoral center. In 1981 he appointed Father Józef Żak to organize it. Father Żak was a Michaelite friar. He was tasked with establishing a duszpasterski ośrodek in Bemowo Lotnisko.
Ks. Leopold Bogdan Sotkiewicz played a vital role. He was the parish priest of Saint Joseph’s. Sotkiewicz proposed the location for the new parish. He allocated land from his existing parish. In September 1982 a cross and barrack marked the site. This barrack served as a temporary chapel. Bishop Jerzy Modzelewski celebrated the first Mass there.
Construction of a proper chapel began in July 1983. It provided shelter for worshipers by December. Until then services were held outdoors regardless of weather. In 1984 construction started on the parish house.
A significant milestone occurred on March 1 1988. Cardinal Józef Glemp officially established the Parafia Matki Bożej Królowej Aniołów. Half a year later Ks. Jan Chrapek established the Michaelite religious house. Ks. Stanisław Morawski became the first parish priest.
The church building concluded on December 9 1996. Cardinal Józef Glemp consecrated the parish church. This marked a new chapter for the community.
Parafia Matki Bożej Królowej Aniołów has a rich history. It supports various initiatives. The parish operates a Caritas and publishes a weekly newsletter. In 2003 construction on the parish house finished. It included conference rooms and counseling facilities.
Ks. J\u00f3zef Gro\u0144ski became the parish priest in 2004. In 2013 the parish celebrated its 25th anniversary. Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz consecrated the altar wall. It featured a figure of Our Lady surrounded by angels. Prof. Wincenty Kućma designed it.
