Established in 1986, Masjid El Noor stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of Toronto’s Muslim community. Masjid El Noor wasn’t always a mosque. It was originally a church. The transformation is a story of adaptation and growth. The community rallied together, expanding and renovating the building in the early 2000s. Today, Masjid El Noor occupies 2500 sq. ft. It boasts spacious prayer halls for both men and women. It also includes three well-equipped classrooms for Islamic education and a kitchen. A mortuary provides burial services for the community. Ramps and designated parking spaces ensure accessibility for all. Masjid El Noor is more than just a place of worship. It’s a vibrant community hub. It offers a wide array of religious and educational programs. It also provides crucial social services. Recognizing the importance of recreation, Masjid El Noor hosts youth programs and offers volunteer opportunities. This holistic approach caters to the diverse needs of the congregation and the wider community. Masjid El Noor collaborates with other Muslim organizations. This ensures a comprehensive range of services. A 15-member Management Committee governs Masjid El Noor. They maintain a system of checks and balances within the organization. Easily accessible by car and public transport, Masjid El Noor welcomes worshippers for the five daily prayers. Nearly 700 people gather every Friday for Jummah prayer. From its humble beginnings as a church, Masjid El Noor has blossomed. It has become a cornerstone of the community, continually striving to serve and uplift its members.
