Crossroads’ story began over 40 years ago. In 1972, Founding Pastor Bill Ritchie moved his family to Vancouver, Washington. It was then a sleepy suburb of Portland, Oregon. In the fall of 1975, God led him to plant Crossroads Community Church. He worked with a team of volunteers. They wanted to see their community meet Jesus.
Pastor Bill remembers the day God spoke to him about planting a church. He recalls it was a huge leap of faith for his family. Maybe that’s why they were drawn to the name Crossroads. The call was undeniable. He was to preach the hope of Jesus to Clark County. He would live out that Gospel as a church family. Looking back on their first 40 years, he felt overwhelmed by God’s grace and faithfulness. He could only imagine what God had planned for the next season.
In 2012, Pastor Bill and the Crossroads board invited Pastor Daniel Fusco to lead Crossroads. He would guide them through the next season of ministry. The vision to preach the truth of Jesus to their community and world is still alive. It grows at Crossroads today.
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world.” God loves our community and world without limits. He sent His son Jesus to die on a cross. He was raised from the grave to give us new life. We can live a new kind of life with purpose and meaning. He wants that for everyone. The more we understand His love, the more we can link hands. We can join with Jesus to extend His love and grace to a broken world. He is on mission. He uses ordinary people like us to do extraordinary things. Everyone is invited on the adventure. Jesus heals and renews us. He grows and encourages us. We can be part of His plan. We can change lives, families, communities, and the world.
Crossroads believes in one true, holy God. He eternally exists in three persons. These are the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each equally possesses all the attributes of deity and personality characteristics. These three are one God.
Crossroads’ mission extends beyond its walls. Through LoveNOW, they proclaim and demonstrate God’s love. They equip and send out His people locally, nationally, and globally. They become the reflection of His presence in a broken and hurting world.
