“Youth, passion, and enthusiasm” are the words that come to my mind when I see these vibrant blooms. Welcome to the Bougainvillea Garden. Here, we celebrate Shenzhen’s city flower. Bougainvillea reflects the spirit of this dynamic metropolis.
The Bougainvillea Garden showcases the flower’s stunning beauty. It also highlights its cultural importance to Shenzhen. The blooms burst with colors. You will find purple, red, orange, white, pink, and yellow. These hues radiate the energy and optimism of Shenzhen.
Shenzhen’s bougainvillea blooms almost all year round. This mirrors the diligence and productivity of the city’s residents. The flower’s adaptability also symbolizes the strength and resilience of the Shenzhen people. It thrives in almost any environment.
Bougainvilleas adorn almost every corner of Shenzhen. However, the Shenzhen International Garden and Flower Expo Park offers some of the most romantic scenes. Here, bougainvilleas with pink and white flowers are in full bloom. They create marvelous spectacles.
Since 1999, Lianhua Hill Park hosts the city’s annual bougainvillea shows. The park features a large variety of bougainvilleas. Even a six-story parking building outside the Fairy Lake Botanical Garden is fully adorned with the blossoms. It resembles a giant layered cake.
These vibrant flowers are also common in roadside green belts. Many balconies also showcase bougainvillea blooms. One resident of Liantang Village planted some bougainvilleas in 2003. Now, it produces a 26-meter-tall cascade of blooms on the façade of the eight-story apartment.
The Huifang Garden is a Lingnan garden. It has a Chaoshan style. Mountains surround it on three sides. It features exquisite architecture and craftsmanship. The green tiles and white walls of the huts match traditional Chaoshan folk crafts. Clay sculptures, colorful paintings, gold lacquer, and wood carvings adorn the garden.
The most beautiful sight in Huifang Garden is the bougainvillea flowers blooming in spring. Also known as triangle plums, they cover the entire Garden Expo Park from early March onwards. The bougainvilleas pour down from the old eaves like waterfalls. Set off by flying eaves and colorful carved white walls, they bring an intoxicating sense of poetry and classical Chinese beauty.
As you stroll through this garden, let the bougainvilleas inspire you. Embrace the youth, passion, and enthusiasm they represent. Take a moment to appreciate the beauty and resilience of nature. Remember the spirit of Shenzhen.
