Getting here is easy. The U3 subway line runs nearby. Zippererstraße station is within easy reach. The school is accessible even from the 3rd district. The building itself is modern and efficient.

A competition was held to design the school. There were 57 entries. Architect Patricia Zacek-Stadler’s project won. The design focuses on a compact building. This preserves green space for the students.

The entrance is clear and welcoming. Baumreihen trees shade the front area. A long concrete bench separates parking from the children’s area. Inside, the foyer leads to the upper floors. The dining hall and festival hall connect directly to the garden.

Classrooms are arranged in clusters. Each cluster has a multifunctional zone. These zones offer flexible spaces. There are also two side alcoves. From these zones, students can access open-air classrooms. Terraces and walkways create a flow between indoors and outdoors.

The facades vary depending on the room’s use. Some are open, others are closed. Window bands and paneling add visual interest. The building’s compact design ensures efficiency. This applies to both construction and operation. Natural light fills the classrooms. Atriums provide additional light. Hallways are lit through door elements with skylights.

Building sections are designed for shading. Walkways, terraces and plants provide shade. The terraces shield classrooms from summer heat. This is achieved without blocking views or light.

GTVS+GTMS Medwedweg offers a generous outdoor area. Meadows and tall plants surround the space. These provide a sense of peace. The outdoor areas support sports, play and relaxation. A paved zone acts as a meeting point. It can be used as a break area. It is also used for events. Sports fields are located on the southwest edge. These can be used by the public. Furnished play areas and lawns invite outdoor play.

Interestingly, the area is home to protected species. The Sandsommerwurz plant is protected by law. A rare lizard species also lives here. A natural area has been set aside. This protects these species within the school grounds.
