Glistening white against the Stockholm sky, Kajen 5 stands tall. Have you noticed how its shimmering facade catches the light?
Kajen 5 is a residential building in the Lagringen block. It is located on Sjöviksvägen 75 by Årstadalshamnen. This is in the Liljeholmen district of southern Stockholm. The high-rise and its low-rise section were constructed between 2013 and 2018. ÅWL Arkitekter designed the building. JM was the main contractor.
Since 2000, Liljeholmskajen has grown into a waterfront residential area. It sits along the southern shore of Årstadalshamnen. Kajen 5 joins Kajen 4, Kajplats 6, and K7 as some of the tallest buildings in the area. Kajen 5 reaches a height of 90 meters above the city’s zero plane. Kajplats 6, with its glassed-in restaurant, will be the tallest of the four high-rises.
Kajen 4 is known for its black facades. In contrast, Kajen 5 shines with its bright white facade. The facade uses glazed screen tiles with orange accents. Like Kajen 4, the complex includes a high section with 24 floors. There is also a low section with eight floors. The two sections contain 193 apartments. These range from one to five rooms and kitchens. The apartments vary in size from 42 to 141 square meters. An inner courtyard sits between the high and low sections. Architect Olof Lotström from ÅWL Arkitekter designed the building.
LW Sverige AB was commissioned by JM AB to handle the facade and sheet metal work. Kajen 5 is one of four spectacular high-rises along Liljeholmskajen. It features a bold and futuristic design. The project includes a stately 24-story high-rise. The low section covers an entire block. LW Sverige AB constructed the substructure. They also handled the insulation and the outer cladding of the facade. The facade uses a two-step sealed system. It is clad with glazed screen tiles of high quality and durability.
Completed in 2016, Kajen 5 is primarily a residential building. It has 25 floors and houses 183 apartments.
