From the 14th century onwards Młochiny has witnessed history unfold. Imagine a small settlement nestled beside the Vistula River. This is where our story begins.

Młochiny’s early years are shrouded in some mystery. We know it existed as a village in the 14th century. Its history is intricately woven with the regal tapestry of Poland. King Augustus II himself hunted in the royal game preserve established in the Młociński Forest during the 16th century. This royal hunting ground added a touch of majesty to the area.

A remarkable chapter in Młochiny’s history is the construction of the Brühl Palace. Built between 1752 and 1758 this palace became infamous for its lavish balls and parties. Imagine the elegant carriages arriving. Imagine the laughter and music echoing through the halls. It truly was a place of high society.

The 18th century also brought the establishment of a gunpowder and cannonball factory. General Alojzy Fryderyk von Brühl founded this significant industrial site. It played an important role in the region’s economy and defence. This was not just a sleepy village. Młochiny played a role in shaping Poland’s military capabilities.

The 19th and 20th centuries saw the growth of Młochiny. Numerous villas and summer homes sprung up. Wealthy Warsaw residents sought refuge in this tranquil area. The development of Młochiny continued. In 1907 the city council acquired about 110 hectares of the forest. This established Młociński Park a green lung for the growing area. The impact of Ebenezer Howard’s Garden City movement is evident in Młochiny. Thanks to Dr Władysław Ołtuszewski’s efforts over 16 hectares of land were purchased. The aim was to create a Garden City.

The years before World War II saw further development. A plan for the spatial development of Młochiny was approved. It was prepared by the Miasto-Ogród-Gaj Cooperative. Unfortunately the war interrupted this development.

Młochiny’s story continued to intertwine with conflict and change. The construction of a Bielany airfield is one example. The airfield was built between Wrzeciono and Młochiny. It saw both successful and unsuccessful attacks during the war. The area became a centre of military activity.

Finally in 1951 Młochiny was incorporated into Warsaw. The airfield was closed ending an era. The subsequent construction of the Młochiny housing estate transformed the area. This phase of growth brought a modern urban landscape to this historic place.

Today Młochiny is a thriving residential area. It houses the Brühl Palace the Institute of Sport and the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University. The Młocińskie Oaks Nature and Landscape Complex is a testament to Młochiny’s rich natural heritage. Młochiny stands as a testament to the passage of time. It is a place where history and the present coexist. It’s a unique area with a legacy that spans centuries. A legacy you can still feel today.
