Established in 1912, the TC Weimar 1912 has witnessed over a century of tennis history. The club’s original name, Weimarer “Lawn-Tennis-Klub 1912,” reflects its early embrace of the sport. TC Weimar 1912 stands as a testament to the enduring passion for tennis in Weimar. The club has navigated significant historical shifts. After World War II disrupted tennis in Thuringia, the sport found a new home within Weimar’s Betriebssportgemeinschaften (BSG). Following German reunification, the BSG Turbine Weimar was dissolved, giving rise to the modern TC Weimar 1912 on October 24, 1990. Today, TC Weimar 1912 boasts impressive facilities. The club offers nine clay courts and three artificial turf courts. This allows players of all levels to enjoy the game. The club’s competitive spirit is evident in its numerous teams. In 2004, TC Weimar 1912 fielded ten adult teams and four youth teams. Among them, the Men’s 30 team reached the 2nd Bundesliga Nord and the Women’s team competed in the Regionalliga. While the Men’s 30 team faced relegation, they achieved a notable victory against Oldenburg. TC Weimar 1912 has a history of success. The club proudly holds two East German championships for the Men’s 30 team, won in 2002 and 2003. In 2004, TC Weimar 1912 received recognition as the best club in Thuringia. This speaks volumes about its dedication to tennis excellence. The club actively participates in the Thuringian Tennis Association and the Thuringian State Sports Federation. This underscores its commitment to the sport’s development at both regional and state levels.
