The school’s athletic teams are known as the Statesmen. Their mascot is a griffin a majestic half-lion half-eagle creature. They compete in the AAA Liberty District. Despite its successes Marshall High School hasn’t been without its challenges. The school faced gang violence in the past. Sadly a student was killed in a shooting in 1998. There was a discrimination case involving a teacher. The school’s history is not without its shadows. Yet these events only serve to highlight the resilience of the school and its community.
