“Lyrical art” that’s how McCreery Jordan’s creations are often described. We’re standing before McCreery Jordan Fine Art a gallery showcasing the talent of an American artist who has found her muse in Santa Fe.
McCreery Jordan has traveled extensively. She has created art around the world. Since 1993, Santa Fe has been her home. She draws particular inspiration from the New Mexico skies.
She strives to capture the intense blues. She also tries to capture the dome of the sky. Her success comes when viewers feel the same awe she does. It happens when she gets lost in them.
McCreery Jordan’s large scape paintings use techniques from an unusual source. Her uncle was a billboard painter. She adapted his methods to her fine art.
Once, quite by accident, someone met McCreery Jordan. It happened during a trip to Santa Fe. This person had followed McCreery’s work in Southwest Art Magazine. They even used her work when teaching collage and painting. What a surprise to discover her gallery while strolling down Canyon Road.
The visitor had first noticed McCreery’s work in Taos. They were taken with her delicate figures and faces. These were painted and overpainted. Layers of collage, paint and gesso added depth. In some cases, she created 3-D sculptural reliefs. She layered printed silk images over the relief. Parts of her paintings lifted off the surface.
McCreery was a wonderful host in her gallery and studio space. She shared her techniques. She gave signed copies of her published books. She seemed genuinely pleased that her work inspired others. One of her paintings had inspired a student to complete a series of collage pieces.
McCreery Jordan has had many solo exhibitions. She is the recipient of numerous awards. Her works belong to many public collections. Any serious collector would be wise to include her work in their private collection. So step inside McCreery Jordan Fine Art.
