Opened in 1991 Shopping West Plaza quickly became a beloved destination. It’s nestled in Sao Paulo’s vibrant West Zone. Specifically in the Barra Funda Pompéia and Perdizes neighborhoods. This area is known for its exciting mix of leisure culture and business. New buildings constantly reshape the landscape.
Shopping West Plaza boasts an impressive 116000 square meters of space. Three interconnected buildings create a unique design. Glass walkways link them together. The shopping center offers a diverse selection of 200 stores. Its impressive 37000 square meters of leasable area is always bustling.
In 2008 a major renovation transformed the mall. Floors restrooms and ceilings received a complete upgrade. Customer comfort was the priority. A highlight is the beautiful outdoor Boulevard West Plaza. This expansive green space was completely redesigned. Famous landscape architect Marcelo Faisal oversaw the project. New flooring furniture lighting and signage were installed.
The revitalization wasn’t just cosmetic. In 2011 the shopping center added major anchor stores. Marisa and Magazine Luiza joined the mix. This expansion targeted the growing middle class. A Cinemark movie theater opened in 2017. Seven screens replaced the older Playarte cinema. The mall’s management also changed. Aliansce took over in 2012. They invested heavily in further improvements. Twenty million reais were spent on renovations. Eighteen million more were added later.
Today Shopping West Plaza has 216 stores. That’s 46 more than three years ago. The vacancy rate has plummeted from 6% to just 2%. New stores like The Body Shop Handbook and Mundo Verde have opened. The Riachuelo and Mr Kitsch stores offer unique experiences. The mall even includes a 24-hour bakery a lab and an MBA school. Shopping West Plaza is not just a shopping center. It’s a vibrant community hub. It’s a testament to resilience and renewal in a rapidly changing city.
