Buddhist Wong Wan Tin College is located in Shatin New Territories Hong Kong. It was established in 1981. The Hong Kong Buddhist Association sponsors the school. The College is named after Wong Wan Tin. He was the vice president of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association.
Initially, Buddhist Wong Wan Tin College did not have its own building. Classes were held at Buddhist Kok Kwong Secondary School. In 1982 housing officials visited the site. They discussed construction methods. By April 1984 the permanent campus was ready. It is located in Mei Lam Estate. The school building has a semi-circular design.
Buddhist Wong Wan Tin College is one of the last schools in Hong Kong. It adopted a specific window design. This design is called “Pian-against-flow windows”.
In 2005 Buddhist Wong Wan Tin College joined a “One Dragon School” program. They partnered with Buddhist Ming Zhu School. Students from the primary school could directly enter the college. However, the program ended in 2009. Buddhist Ming Zhu School closed due to failing an inspection.
Currently, the principal of Buddhist Wong Wan Tin College is Mr. Li King-Pin. The school supervisor is Venerable Sik Kwok Wan.
Buddhist Wong Wan Tin College offers a wide range of subjects. Junior secondary students study Chinese and English. They also learn math Chinese history and geography. Science computer skills and life skills are also included. Moreover, they study music visual arts physical education and Buddhism. Senior secondary students have core subjects. They include Chinese English mathematics and civic education. Elective subjects are also available. These include Chinese history world history geography and science. Students can also study economics business and technology. Visual arts tourism ethics and physical education are further options.
Most subjects at Buddhist Wong Wan Tin College are taught in Chinese. A few are taught in English.
Buddhist Wong Wan Tin College has 24 classes. There are 12 junior secondary classes and 12 senior secondary classes. Each grade has four classes.
