It has space for 750 students. Thirty-two classrooms fill the building. There are nine extra teaching spaces too. The school even has a stage a library teaching area and a divisible gym. Skanska USA built this impressive structure.
But the school’s name holds a deeper meaning. It honors the Sato family. This Japanese-American family arrived in 1926. They farmed the land near the school. Their four children all graduated from Beaverton High School. Sadly their story includes hardship. During World War II the family was sent to the Minidoka Internment Camp. They endured three years of unjust confinement. Two sons Shin and Roy joined the military. Shin tragically died in combat in 1944. Roy survived two wounds receiving the Purple Heart for his bravery. Their sacrifice reflects a larger story of resilience and patriotism. The Sato family’s legacy continues to inspire.
