The history of Euskirchen Rhein-Erft-Kreis II dates back to 1949. Back then it was known as Bergheim Euskirchen. Over the years, the name changed several times. These changes reflect shifts in regional boundaries.

In the 1950s and 1960s it was called Bergheim Erft Euskirchen. Later it became Bergheim Erft. In 1976, it was Erftkreis II. From 1980 to 2009, it was Euskirchen Erftkreis II. The current name arrived in 2013. The numbering system also evolved.

Originally, the constituency included Euskirchen and Bergheim Erft. In 1976, Erftstadt, Bergheim and Kerpen were added. These came from the Erftkreis district. The borders stabilized in 1980. The Erftkreis district became Rhein-Erft-Kreis in 2003. The constituency borders stayed the same.

Before Detlef Seif, other prominent figures held this seat. Johannes Even was the first. He served from 1949 to 1965. Hans Verbeek and Karl Gatzen each had a single term. Peter Milz followed, serving until 1987. Wolf Bauer then held the position until 2009.

In the 2021 federal election, Detlef Seif won with 34.6% of the votes. Dagmar Andres of the SPD received 26.7%. Marion Sand of the Greens got 13.1%. Markus Herbrand of the FDP secured 10.4%. Rüdiger Lucassen of the AfD obtained 7.9%.

Past election results show a consistent CDU dominance. The party has held this constituency since its creation. The shifting percentages reflect the changing political landscape.
