Hidden just ten kilometers northwest of Prague, the small village of Kováry whispers tales of horses and history. Kováry sits at the crossroads of Prague, Kladno, and Kralupy nad Vltavou. It’s a quick fifteen-minute drive from Prague or a scenic forty-minute bus ride. The renovated Kováry farm offers a haven for both your four-legged equine companions and you. Imagine a cozy clubhouse, warm changing rooms, and a welcoming outdoor seating area with a grill. Your horse can relax in a spacious box stall with vaulted ceilings or enjoy the fresh air in outdoor English stables. Kováry farm boasts a covered riding hall (19×39 meters) with a professional white sand and geotextile surface. There’s also a sand riding arena (30×60 meters) and a sand paddock (45×85 meters), also made with white sand and geotextile. The surrounding landscapes are breathtaking. Riders can explore the beautiful terrains around the Budeč hillfort and Okoř Castle. Horses can socialize in spacious paddocks and pastures or enjoy smaller, private paddocks. Kováry caters to both recreational riders and serious athletes. Everyone can find their niche here. Kováry also offers two double-bed rooms for those who want to extend their stay. This charming village, Kováry, is more than just a farm. It’s woven into the history of the nearby Budeč hillfort. The first written mention of Kováry dates back to around 1348, possibly even earlier, to 1376. The village was once part of the Rakovník district, then Smíchov, followed by Praha-venkov and Kralupy. Since 1960, Kováry has been part of the Kladno district. The Zákolanský stream, which flows through Kováry, has inspired renowned landscape artists like Antonín Slavíček, Jaroslav Panuška, Otakar Lebeda, and local painter Josef Holub. Kováry also has its own protected natural areas. The Kovářské stráně, designated in 1987, shelters endangered species. A section of the Zákolanský stream, south of the village towards the bridge on road II/101, is also protected. A train stop on the Hostivice-Podlešín line is conveniently located about half a kilometer from Kováry.
