Wow. Look at Highcastle Public School. This isn’t just any school. It’s a living testament to the ever-changing face of Scarborough. Highcastle Public School opened its doors in September 1967. It was a small ten-room junior public school. Can you imagine? Back then the school was brimming with students. The numbers peaked at a remarkable 855 students in 1969. That’s quite a crowd for a small school. The following year however the numbers dropped. The opening of Brooks Road and Military Trail Public Schools drew some students away. The school’s population settled down to 464. Highcastle Public School however continued to thrive. It became a truly diverse school and community. A strong base of parent support made Highcastle a wonderful place to be. The school now serves students from JK to Grade 8. It houses approximately 340 students. The school’s address is 370 Military Trail Toronto Ontario. The Toronto District School Board manages the school. Over the years the school underwent significant changes. An expansion project included an 11-classroom addition and 4 new kindergarten rooms. Six portable classrooms were removed. Renovations improved existing spaces. The project aimed to improve space usage and increase access to educational resources. Today Highcastle Public School stands as a vibrant hub of learning. It’s a testament to the dedication of its staff students and community. It continues to serve and educate children in the Seven Oaks and Brooks Road community. Remember Highcastle Public School.
