What if these walls could talk? The Zeppelin-Gymnasium in Stuttgart has stories etched into its very foundation. Founded in 1912 the Zeppelin-Gymnasium started as a reform real-gymnasium for boys.

Originally, French was the first foreign language taught here. Now, English takes that spot. The Zeppelin-Gymnasium got its current name in 1953. Imagine the changes it has seen.

In 2012, the Zeppelin-Gymnasium celebrated its 100th anniversary. That’s a century of education within these walls. Today, the Zeppelin-Gymnasium stands as a modern school. It emphasizes science and offers a bilingual English program. The school also runs as an open all-day school. It is one of only three schools in Stuttgart to offer the G9 program.

Around 650 students attend the Zeppelin-Gymnasium. About 50 teachers guide them. The Zeppelin-Gymnasium also participates in student exchange programs. They have partnerships with schools in Nancy, France, and Porvoo, Finland. These exchanges offer invaluable experiences to students.

Until mid-2021, the Zeppelin-Gymnasium had an additional building. It was located on Werastrasse and served the upper-level students. That annex was replaced by a new extension on the main campus. This 8.27 million Euro addition includes a new cafeteria. It also has more classrooms and a student lounge.

There are plans to convert the old cafeteria in the main building. It will become a science and technology lab. The Zeppelin-Gymnasium is one of the few G9 schools in Stuttgart. Because of this, the school has seen rising enrollment numbers.

The Zeppelin-Gymnasium received an award in 2015. It became the first school in Stuttgart to earn the “Weltethos School” title. The Weltethos Foundation gives this award. The Zeppelin-Gymnasium earned the recognition for its dedication. It promotes a peaceful environment with mutual acceptance and tolerance. The school fosters a strong community. Students from diverse backgrounds, religions, and cultures learn together.

The Zeppelin-Gymnasium offers a variety of courses. Students can choose advanced studies in languages like French, English, and Latin. Science courses include Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Physics. Students can also participate in clubs. These include computer science, IT, or first aid. The school also participates in “Jugend forscht” and the “Kangaroo Competition”.
