Fancy a bit of Hong Kong sporting history? The Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground awaits. This multi-purpose sports field is a local treasure. It is on Tin Kwong Road in Kowloon. Many know it as Mission Road Ground.

This ground opened in 1976. Its first cricket match featured a Hong Kong XI versus the Queensland Colts. This was the start of something special.

Fast forward to November 2015. The International Cricket Council approved the ground. It could now host One Day International matches. This made it East Asia’s first international cricket venue.

January 26, 2016 marked a historic day. Hong Kong played Scotland in the ICC World Cricket League Championship. This was the first ODI held here. A second ODI was unfortunately washed out. But the excitement didn’t end there. The ground hosted its first Twenty20 Internationals. Again, Hong Kong faced Scotland.

The Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground has more to offer. There are toilets and changing rooms. Cricket enthusiasts can hone their skills. A fee-paying cricket practice net is available. The pitch doubles as mini-soccer fields. Two pitches are available. Accessibility is a priority. The ground features accessible toilets and tactile guide paths.

Though a 2020 Interport Series was cancelled, Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground continues to host thrilling matches. It saw its last T20I match in March 2024. Nepal played versus Papua New Guinea. The last WT20I match was on 5 December 2024. Hong Kong played versus Thailand.
