Construction began in August 2018. The topping-out ceremony occurred on August 24, 2020. By February 2021, the Fire Services Department Pak Shing Kok Married Quarters was complete.
The Fire Services Department Pak Shing Kok Married Quarters comprises five blocks. Four blocks have 16 storeys. One block has 17. Impressively, the project uses about 3,800 MiC modules. Each floor houses eight units. This provides a total of 648 three-bedroom apartments. Each apartment measures 50 square metres. They provide comfortable homes for firefighters and their families.
The development also includes essential ancillary facilities. There is a Building Management Office for smooth operations. A Multi-Function Room provides space for community activities. An outdoor children’s playground offers recreation for families. Covered walkways ensure residents can move around comfortably in all weather.
The Architectural Services Department played a key role. They hoped this project would promote sustainable development in the construction sector. MiC significantly speeds up construction. A typical MiC floor took just five days to construct. This is far faster than traditional methods.
