What powers 28,000 homes? Here, in the heart of Austria’s Marchfeld region, stands Windpark Marchfeld Mitte. It’s a testament to Austria’s commitment to renewable energy, a silent giant harnessing the power of the wind. The construction of this impressive wind farm began in 2014 and reached completion in a remarkably short 13 months. The official opening ceremony took place on May 30th, 2015, marking the beginning of its mission to provide clean energy to the region. Windpark Marchfeld Mitte is equipped with 14 powerful Enercon E-101 wind turbines. These impressive structures, with their towering heights of 135 and 99 meters, dominate the landscape. Each turbine boasts a rotor diameter of 101 meters, efficiently capturing the wind’s energy to generate a total of 42 megawatts of electricity. This impressive output is enough to power 28,000 homes, a significant contribution to the region’s energy needs.
