“Big rackets” indeed. That is what some tourists call the Sky Corridor here in Qingyuan. This is Guangdong’s highest circular sky corridor. It opened to the public not too long ago.

Supported by three huge steel pillars, the Sky Corridor extends 368 meters out from a cliff. It stands 500 meters high. That’s equal to the height of a 166-floor building.

Walking along the Sky Corridor may give you an adrenaline rush. It is quite safe, though. You can enjoy a nice view. From here, you can see the rafting area and the primitive landscape of the Huangteng Gorge to the north. To the south, there is the urban landscape of Qingyuan. At dusk, you can see a glorious setting sun to the west. On misty days, the whole Sky Corridor looks like it’s hanging above a cloud.

The team that designed the Sky Corridor was very creative. They installed 450 water nozzles and nearly 2,000 electric lights on the outermost circular bridge. This created the world’s largest circular musical waterfall. It has a total circumference of 168 meters.

During the daytime, the huge artificial waterfall dances to the music. It looks like it’s interpreting an elegant waltz in a formal white dress. At dusk, the musical waterfall turns into a crystal curtain. This creates a dazzling rainbow. As night falls and the lights come on, visitors can enjoy a colorful musical waterfall.

Huangteng Gorge is one of the best rafting spots in Guangdong. The rafting area is known as the “smaller Jiuzhaigou”. Its water, air and scenery are a close match to the original pristine nature reserve.

Its watercourse is six kilometers long. It features clear, fast flowing water and a total drop of 168 meters. The highest fall is 16 meters. The longest measures nearly 200 meters. There are more than 130 falls. The total rafting time is about three hours.

Haohan Slope starts right at the entrance of the foot of the gorge. There are 888 stairs from start to end. Climbing up the slope, you will be embraced by the lush forest. You will also encounter some simulated animals. These include dinosaurs, tigers and lions. These “animals” even make some sounds and movements from time to time. This creates the illusion that you are inside the movie “Jurassic Park.”

Before reaching the Sky Corridor, you will pass through a long passage of Chinese wisteria vines. The pink and purple flowers hanging all around on the green vines produce a romantic atmosphere along the way.

After feasting on the grand natural landscape, you can take a rest. Then, try out the exciting kart racing at the foot of the mountain. It is the largest kart track in Qingyuan.

So, what do you think of the Sky Corridor? Thrilling, isn’t it? It is a unique blend of natural beauty and human ingenuity.
