Have you felt the invigorating air around Ulvsjön? Ulvsjön. It’s more than just a lake. It’s a story etched in water and stone.

Ulvsjön lies nestled in Stockholm County. It is part of Södermanland, Sweden. Locals and tourists often visit to leap from its cliffs. Daredevils enjoy jumping from the five-meter heights into the cool water.

Ulvsjön spans 6.4 hectares. Its average depth is 2.7 meters. The deepest point reaches 4.2 meters. The water level sits at 25.1 meters above sea level. The total water volume amounts to 170000 cubic meters.

While there is no official bathing spot, the cliffs offer excellent swimming opportunities. Imagine the sun warming the rocks. Feel the cool water as you dive in.

Trails wind near Ulvsjön connecting to Hellasgården and Söderbysjön. The Sörmlandsleden trail passes along Ulvsjön’s northern edge. These paths invite exploration around the lake.

Fishing is popular in the southern and southwestern parts of Ulvsjön. Small perch dominate the fish population. You might also find some single pikes. To fish here you need a sport fishing permit. This permit is issued by Sportfiskarna’s Stockholm district.

Ulvsjön’s plant life thrives near the inlets and outlets. Bulrush and cattail spread wide. Water lilies adorn the lake. Further out you can find pondweed. The vegetation adds a beautiful touch to Ulvsjön.

Between Ulvsjön and Söderbysjön two rare insect species live. These are Metzira Tremulae a flat bug and Strangalia Attenuata a longhorn beetle. The stream warbler also nests near the outlet.

For a long time Ulvsjön received nutrient-rich water. This changed it from a nutrient-poor lake to a nutrient-rich one. After improvements to municipal water and sewage in Kolarängen the nutrient levels decreased. Phosphorus and nitrogen levels halved. Ulvsjön is now classified as moderately high in nutrients.

Today Ulvsjön receives stormwater from Kolarängen. A pumping station with an emergency outlet sits near the lake. This helps manage water levels and quality.

Ulvsjön has a neutral pH level. It has high buffering capacity. This means there is little risk of acidification.

Currently no specific actions are planned for Ulvsjön. The water quality is regularly monitored. This ensures its health for future generations.

Ulvsjön offers natural beauty and recreational opportunities. The cliffs trails and fishing make it a special place. Remember the story of Ulvsjön. It is a tale of nature’s resilience.
