St. Jerome’s Catholic Church

It serves as a spiritual haven for the local Catholic community. The original St. Jerome’s church stood at the corner of Rockingham Road and Edeline Street. It opened its doors on May 27, 1934. This church played a vital role in the lives of local Catholics for many years. The current St. Jerome’s Church, a newer structure, opened in 1987. This marked a new chapter in the church’s history. The Somascan Fathers took over the parish in 2004. Their guidance has nurtured the community’s growth. The church is a hub of activity, with Mass times scheduled throughout the week. Saturday Vigil Mass starts at 6pm, preceded by Confession and Exposition at 5:15pm. Sunday offers multiple Mass options. These start with an early Exposition at 7:30am, followed by Masses at 8am and 10am. There’s also a special Italian Mass at 11:30am. Weekday Masses are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. These are all at 9am after Exposition, Confession, and Rosary at 8am and 8:30am respectively. Wednesday evening also has Mass at 7pm, preceded by Exposition and Confession at 6pm. St. Jerome’s also holds special services on First Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. These include Consecration, Adoration, and Meditation. Reconciliation is available on Wednesdays from 6pm to 6:55pm and Saturdays from 5:15pm to 5:45pm. The church’s connection to education is evident through its affiliation with St. Jerome’s Primary School and Holy Spirit Catholic College Lakemba.
