Friedhof Forum isn’t your typical museum. It’s a cultural and service center in Zurich, a unique space in Switzerland dedicated to life, death, and everything in between. Opened in 2012, Friedhof Forum is housed in the former Sihlfeld Crematorium D. The building itself has a story to tell. Renovated by architects Daniel Bosshard and Meritxell Vaquer i Fernàndez, they carefully preserved its original character while creating a modern, unified space. Inside Friedhof Forum, you’ll find exhibits on Christian-Western sepulchral culture, including historical tombstones and grave ornaments. These artifacts whisper tales of rituals and remembrance from bygone eras. Friedhof Forum is more than just a repository of the past. It’s a dynamic space offering exhibitions, readings, concerts, and even theater performances, all exploring the themes of death, grief, and memory.
