In 1916, the first Girl Guides Company was established in Hong Kong. This laid the groundwork for what would eventually become the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association Headquarters. The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association Headquarters stands as a testament to the empowerment of girls and young women. Officially founded in 1919, the association’s headquarters at 8 Gascoigne Road, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon, serves as the central hub for their inspiring mission. The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association’s vision is to be the leading provider of non-formal educational leadership programs. Their aim is to empower every girl and young woman to positively change her life and influence the lives of others. The association offers a diverse range of programs for girls of all ages. From the Brownie Guides (aged 6-12) to the Girl Guides (aged 10-18), the Ranger Guides (aged 15-23), and even the Golden Guides (aged 55+), there is a place for everyone. The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association even has a program for the youngest members. Happy Bee is a parent-child program for children aged 4-6. This program accepts both boys and girls. The association’s 8-Point Program covers a wide range of skills and values. It focuses on mind, character, service, physical fitness, enjoyment of the outdoors, creative ability, homecraft skills, and relationships with people. Currently, a youth hostel is being built above the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association Headquarters. Upon completion in 2025, this hostel will provide 579 rooms. It will also include activity rooms and a multi-purpose hall. The hostel is being constructed using the MiC (Modular Integrated Construction) method. The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association Headquarters continues to serve as a beacon of empowerment for girls and young women across Hong Kong.
