Think back to 1937 when Cabin Camp 2 first opened its doors to campers. For years Camp Mawavi thrived here. It was run by the Campfire Girls of America. Cabin Camp 2 is a place steeped in history. It offers a unique glimpse into the past.
Cabin Camp 2 sleeps 148 visitors on its 132 acres. The camp features a variety of cabins. Most cabins sleep four people. You will also find a few two and six-person cabins. Cabins are arranged in a circular pattern. Each unit has eight cabins. Each unit also features a bathhouse and a lodge. The units sit in grassy clearings. Dense forests surround them. Imagine children laughing and playing.
The large ballfield in Cabin Camp 2 is one of the park’s best features. Lake access is also readily available. Cabin Camp 2 earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The Mawavi Historic District dates back to 1942. The Civilian Conservation Corps workers built it.
Sleeping cabins have lights, electrical outlets, bunks, and mattresses. Remember to bring bedding, pillows, and towels. Sleeping cabins lack heat or air conditioning. There are five restrooms. One is in A Unit. Another is in B Unit. There are also restrooms in C Unit and D Unit. You will find one behind the dining hall. Campers are responsible for cleaning. Please sanitize floors, shower stalls, sinks, and toilets. The park provides plungers and toilet brushes. Remember to bring hand soap, detergents, and other toiletries. Toilet paper is provided.
The dining hall seats up to 126 people. It has a commercial kitchen. The park doesn’t provide food. You must bring your own. The dining hall has wooden tables and benches. The kitchen is equipped with a stove and ovens. There is a large griddle and walk-in refrigerator. You will also find a freezer and large sinks. A food warming station is available. There is plenty of counter space. Groups can cook themselves or use a caterer. Feel free to use the fireplaces inside the dining hall.
Sleeping is not permitted in the dining hall. Sleeping is also not allowed in the craft lodges. Groups may use the fireplaces inside the craft lodges. Fire pits are outside.
The infirmary sleeps ten people. It has a refrigerator. A private restroom with a shower is also available.
To stay at Cabin Camp 2 fill out the Cabin Camp Application. The price is $725 per night. Check-in is at 4:00 p.m. Check-out is at 2:00 p.m.
Remember to clean the facilities before you leave. The park provides brooms and mops. All trash must go in trash cans.
Pets are prohibited. Smoking is not permitted in cabins or buildings. Quiet hours are between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Fires are only permitted in designated areas. Tents are not allowed.
