Curiosity sparked within me as I approached the Pan-American Christian Academy. I wondered about the stories held within its walls. Pan-American Christian Academy, or PACA, stands as a unique institution in São Paulo. Founded in 1960, PACA offers an American-style education grounded in Christian values. This has served both the local and international communities of São Paulo. PACA provides a college preparatory education from preschool through 12th grade. It offers a dual curriculum, enabling students to pursue entry into both American and Brazilian universities. The school boasts an impressive 95% college enrollment rate for its graduates.

PACA’s student body represents a vibrant tapestry of cultures. Over 340 students from fourteen nationalities call PACA home. The mix is roughly 30% Brazilian, 30% American, 26% Korean, with the remaining 14% hailing from diverse nations. These include India, Nigeria, South Africa, Japan, China, Colombia, and Germany. The campus itself spans 8.9 acres. Its facilities rival those of the best international schools in South America. Within its grounds, PACA houses 22 classrooms, a science laboratory, a library, and a media center. It also features a computer center, a learning lab, a gymnasium, and a regulation-size athletic field. Outdoor courts, a cafeteria, playgrounds, and a 25-meter swimming pool round out the offerings.

PACA’s commitment to quality extends to its faculty. All 48 faculty members are degreed and certified. An impressive 60% hold postgraduate or master’s degrees. This ensures a low student-to-faculty ratio of approximately 10:1. Academics at PACA are rigorous. English is the primary language of instruction. All students adhere to an American curriculum and earn an American high school diploma. For those seeking a Brazilian diploma, PACA offers concurrent coursework in Portuguese. Pan-American Christian Academy is fully accredited. Cognia, the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) have all granted accreditation. PACA holds memberships in the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), the Association of American Schools in Brazil (AASB), and the American International Schools in the Americas (AMISA). The school is governed by a board of evangelical Christians and managed by licensed U.S. administrators. As a non-profit institution, PACA operates independently. It receives no financial support from government or non-government organizations. Tuition fees and fundraising activities fuel the school’s operation and growth.

The Pan-American Christian Academy offers much more than just academics. Its athletic teams, known as the PACA Warriors, compete in the São Paulo High School League (SPHSL). They face off against schools like St. Paul’s School, Graded, Chapel School, American School of Campinas, and others. The vibrant mix of nationalities, the commitment to academics, the diverse facilities, and the athletic spirit create a dynamic learning environment. Pan-American Christian Academy continues to shape young minds and prepare them for the future. Its blend of American education and Christian values makes it a true beacon in São Paulo’s educational landscape.
