This collaboration laid the foundation for The Music Center at Strathmore, a beacon of artistic expression. The Music Center at Strathmore boasts a 1,976-seat concert hall, designed in the classic “shoebox” style. This design, combined with a state-of-the-art acoustic system, creates an unparalleled listening experience. Above the stage, a mechanized canopy of acrylic panels can be adjusted to fine-tune the sound for each performance. Even the curtains and banners play a role, subtly influencing the acoustics to create the perfect ambiance. Beyond the concert hall, The Music Center at Strathmore houses a dedicated Education Center. Here, aspiring musicians and dancers hone their craft in spacious rehearsal rooms, including a dance studio with a sprung floor and rooms with soaring 40-foot ceilings. The center hosts over 150 performances annually, ranging from classical masterpieces to vibrant world music. The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, a founding partner, graces the stage regularly. Other resident artistic partners include the National Philharmonic, Washington Performing Arts Society, and CityDance Ensemble. This diverse programming ensures that there is something for everyone at The Music Center at Strathmore. The Music Center at Strathmore is connected to the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro station by a glass-enclosed sky bridge, making it easily accessible from Washington, D.C., and the surrounding areas.
