The church stands before us, a testament to faith and resilience. St. Joseph Kirche, a simple baroque structure, has witnessed centuries of history. Built in the 17th century as a part of a Camaldolese monastery, the church was destroyed by the Turks during the siege of Vienna in 1683. However, it was rebuilt and dedicated to Saint Joseph. It wasn’t always easy for St. Joseph Kirche. Like a ship weathering turbulent storms, it faced its share of challenges. In the late 18th century, the Camaldolese monks were dissolved by Emperor Joseph II. The church fell into disrepair and was even used as a dance hall for a short time. However, it was eventually restored and remains a much-loved place of worship. Today, St. Joseph Kirche is cared for by Polish Resurrectionist priests.
