Lingnan University’s journey began in 1888 in Guangzhou as the Christian College in China. It later became Canton Christian College in 1903 and finally, Lingnan University in 1927. The university thrived, contributing significantly to Chinese education. However, it ceased operations in mainland China in 1952. Like a phoenix from the ashes, Lingnan College was reborn in Hong Kong in 1967, thanks to the dedication of its alumni. They sought to preserve the university’s rich traditions and liberal arts focus. In 1999, after achieving self-accreditation status, Lingnan College was officially designated Lingnan University. Now situated on a vibrant campus in Tuen Mun, Lingnan University continues its legacy of providing a broad-based education.
