Established in 1971 Bosmansdam High School stands proudly in Bothasig. This public school welcomes students from various backgrounds. It’s a place where English and Afrikaans languages intertwine. The school’s motto Unitate Fortior meaning Stronger through Unity speaks volumes. It highlights the spirit of togetherness.

Bosmansdam High School wasn’t always as it is now. Initially it only had Standard 6 and 7 students. These are now known as Grades 8 and 9. The first graduating class completed Standard 10 in 1974. Imagine the excitement then.

The school’s reach was once much wider. It served students from Edgemead to Melkbosstrand. Today its students mainly come from Bothasig Burgundy Estate Richwood and Summer Greens. The school has seen many headmasters. Mr SS Loubser was the first. Mr Norman Kitley is fondly remembered. He continued teaching mathematics long after retirement. The current headmaster is Mr Gert Van Tonder. A renowned composer Dirkie de Villiers created the school song. Cor Pama a heraldist designed the school badge.

Bosmansdam High School boasts impressive academic results. Annual NSC examination pass rates often reach 95.6% or even 100%. The school offers a variety of sporting and cultural activities. It provides a well-rounded education. It is a state-assisted school. However new students pay a set fee. Notable alumni include James Vos a Member of Parliament and Jody Williams a South African Idols winner. The school’s legacy continues to grow. It remains a cornerstone of the Bothasig community. More than 50 years of history are etched into its walls. Each brick whispers tales of students teachers and triumphs.
