“Sent by Bread of Life Christian Church in Zhongli”. That’s how the story of Bread of Life Christian Church in Northern Sydney began. Reverend Steven Li and his family started this church. They were driven by the Great Commission and the love of Jesus Christ.

Bread of Life Christian Church in Northern Sydney officially began on September 1, 2002. The church’s vision is to build a disciple church. This church would be full of love and power. They use the Bible as their foundation. The Holy Spirit guides them. Worship is their focus and missionary work is their goal.

The church started with prayer meetings in Pastor Li’s home on July 31. The first service had only 10 people. On November 11, 2002, they moved to Roseville Uniting Church. The church grew to about 80 people. By February 2, 2005, they moved to Chatswood High School’s hall.

In September 2007, Bread of Life Christian Church in Northern Sydney hosted the 3rd Bread of Life Oceania convention. It was held in Collaroy Centre. People came from Bread of Life churches across Australia and New Zealand.

Currently, the Bread of Life Christian Church in Northern Sydney has Mandarin services. They also provide English translation. The church now has 10 cell groups. These groups range from kids to teenagers and the elderly. Each cell group has about 12 people.

Bread of Life Christian Church in Northern Sydney is part of the 1503 Mission Network. These are cell group-based churches. Cell groups meet weekly based on age and location. Members build relationships through God’s love. They care for each other with truthfulness and action.

The church is filled with the Holy Spirit. Members receive gifts from the Spirit. They use these gifts to serve in different ministries. Many have found meaning and value in their lives here. People who came in sorrowful left joyful and unburdened.

The 1503 vision means that when a certain area has 150 disciples and 3 cell groups, they are ready to send 50 disciples to that area to plant another church. This new church will also be full of love, passion, and power. They work with other churches to meet the needs of Sydney.

Bread of Life Christian Church in Northern Sydney strives for unity with other churches. They believe unity witnesses and testifies to the Gospel of Christ. Through unity comes anointing and power. The church believes there is only ONE Church in Sydney: the Church of Christ. They aim to win the city for Jesus alongside all churches. They envision Sydney becoming a missionary center for Oceania. From there, they hope to bring the Gospel back to Jerusalem.
