Poetry echoes in the very name of this sacred place. The name of God’s River Church comes from a verse in the Bible. It speaks of enriching the land with water. It makes it greatly abundant. “The river of God is full of water”. It is a metaphor for nourishing hearts.

God’s River Church stands as a beacon of faith. It is located in Tokyo’s Suginami district. More precisely it is in Eifuku. It is a Protestant church.

Dedicated in 1973 the church has served its community for over 50 years. People who enter the main worship hall notice an unexpected Japanese touch. The shoji windows and wooden altar create a unique “Wa-style” atmosphere.

The church’s purpose is to fill thirsty hearts with the living water. They aspire to be a church overflowing with love.

About 60 members gather here. They come from Tokyo and surrounding areas. This includes Chiba Saitama and Kanagawa. God’s River Church welcomes everyone.

The worship hall is on the second floor. An elevator ensures access for all. A mother and child room at the back allows parents to attend services. Parents can do so without worry. There is also a room available on the first floor. It is for older children.

You are welcome to visit God’s River Church.

The church holds weekly worship services every Sunday. Services begin at 10:30 AM and last about an hour. Once a month there is a Bible Sunday service. It is designed for those new to Christianity. Prayer meetings take place every Wednesday. They are held in the morning and evening.

God’s River Church also has a dedicated choir. The God’s River Choir was formed in 1974. The choir consists of about 20 members. Members include students office workers and homemakers. Every week the choir sings hymns during worship. They also perform concerts a few times a year. Before Christmas the choir presents “Silent Night”. It is an annual performance. It combines carols and drama.

The church also focuses on children’s spiritual growth. God’s River Church offers a church school and junior classes every week. Here children learn from the Bible. They grow into wholesome people.
