Morningside College shapes management talents, it instills social responsibility, professional ethics, critical thinking, a global vision, and an innovative spirit. Morningside seeks to provide a distinctive education. The College of Management was established in June 1997. It houses five departments. These are the Department of Business Administration, the Department of Management Science, the Department of Public Administration, the Department of Human Resource Management, and the Department of Marketing.
Morningside College offers six undergraduate programs. These include Business Administration, Information Systems, Information Management, E-Commerce, Public Administration, Human Resource Management, and Marketing. Also available are three full-time master’s degree programs. They are Business Administration, Management Science and Engineering, and Public Administration. Part-time MBA and MPA programs are also available. Morningside offers one doctoral program in Management Science and Economic Decision.
Since its founding, the College has developed rapidly. It boasts outstanding research achievements. The College undertakes about ten national projects each year. These projects are supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Social Science Fund of China. Faculty members publish academic papers in top journals, both domestically and globally.
Morningside College aims to cultivate forward-thinking business talents. It offers innovative and entrepreneurial programs. These programs prepare students to be global business leaders. Excellent facilities include the Experimental Center for Modern Management Teaching. It comprises several laboratories. It offers 45 experimental courses and 230 experimental programs. These train and improve students’ practical abilities. Student teams have secured five global prizes and 50 national prizes.
The College is committed to innovation and entrepreneurship education. Morningside offers 19 general courses and five advanced courses on entrepreneurship. There are also two entrepreneurship programs: the Entrepreneurship Elite Program and the Public Service Innovation Program. Notably, twenty-eight percent of students in the Entrepreneurship Elite Program have founded their own companies in China. Morningside also provides students with global learning opportunities. Students can join international joint and dual degree programs.
Currently, Morningside College has 123 faculty members and 38 staff members. There are 209 postgraduate students and PhD candidates. In addition, there are 2,650 full-time undergraduates, 40 international students, and over 4,000 part-time students.
Morningside College has produced outstanding business leaders. These include SHI Yuzhu, founder of Giant High-Tech Group. Others include CHEN Zhihai, chairman of Futong group, and CHEN Huaide, chairman of Yuelang International Company. Further notable alumni are ZHANG Yubiao, representative of the 10th congress of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, and TU Hongyan, one of the 20 leading figures of China’s private enterprises.
