Chong Sixth Form College was initially located on the former site of Po Leung Kuk Wu Chung College in Sha Tin. In its inaugural year, Po Leung Kuk Vicwood K.T. Chong Sixth Form College offered a diverse curriculum spanning 16 disciplines. While students had a range of subject choices, English proficiency was paramount, making Use of English a mandatory module. The college catered to various academic interests. It offered a robust social sciences stream encompassing economics, principles of accounts, pure mathematics, business studies, and geography. Leading the charge was Dr. Chan Siu Kui Darnay, the founding headmaster. He brought a wealth of experience, having previously served as the head of Po Leung Kuk Tang Yuk Tien College in Tuen Mun. Po Leung Kuk Vicwood K.T. Chong Sixth Form College quickly gained recognition for its academic rigor. It became a sought-after institution, attracting high-achieving students. The college consistently boasted impressive pass rates in the Hong Kong A-level Examinations, often exceeding the Hong Kong average. Furthermore, its credit rates significantly surpassed the territory’s average, solidifying its reputation for academic excellence. Beyond its core curriculum, Po Leung Kuk Vicwood K.T. Chong Sixth Form College expanded its horizons by partnering with international universities. In 1996, it embarked on joint-degree programs with prestigious institutions like the University of Victoria in Canada and the University of Ballarat in Australia.
