Fancy a story about floodlights and football? Then gather round because we are standing before the Ząbki Dozbud Arena. This stadium has seen its fair share of action. It is more than just a sports venue. It is a place filled with local pride.
The Ząbki Dozbud Arena officially opened on November 18 2012. However its story began long before that day. The stadium underwent extensive renovations from 2010 to 2012. These renovations shaped the stadium into what we see today. The cost of this transformation was 17 million złoty.
Originally known as Stadion Miejski w Ząbkach it gained the name Dolcan Arena. In 2018 it was renamed Dozbud Arena for sponsorship reasons. This name marks a new chapter in its history.
The stadium has a capacity of 2100 people. The record attendance was set on October 2 2015. 1350 fans watched Dolcan Ząbki play Chrobry Głogów. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Ząbkovia Ząbki has been the primary tenant since 1927. For a few years Legia Warsaw II also played here. They used the stadium as their home ground from 2016 to 2020.
In 2009 temporary stands were erected. These stands helped meet the minimum requirement of 2000 seats. Other improvements were also made including a new surveillance system.
The most significant upgrade was the construction of the south stand. This stand has 1783 seats. It provides infrastructure for players and offices.
In 2015 floodlighting was installed. The floodlights have a power of 3000 lux. This is stronger than the lights at Legia Warszawa’s stadium. It is even stronger than those at the National Stadium. At the same time one temporary stand was removed. This made room for additional parking.
The Ząbki Dozbud Arena is located at ul. Słowackiego 21. It is owned by MOSiR Ząbki. The stadium stands near a road and a train station.
The stadium was a candidate to host a team during Euro 2012. However it was not selected in the final list.
Today the Ząbki Dozbud Arena continues to be a focal point for the community. It hosts football matches and other events. It is a testament to the enduring spirit of Ząbki.
